Takes me right back to my youth and some early gigs. Had really forgotten how good this band were very melodic and fantastic twin guitar line up. A friend of mine was at agricultural college in St Albans (Uk)in the mid 70's with Andy Powels brother. I used to go and stay there the odd weekend when my friend was on muck out the animals duty and used to take along my acoustic as my friend also played. Andy Powels brother heard me playing one night really late and knocked on the door to ask if we could turn the records down and was surprised to see me sitting there playing. You will make it he said if you want to be a professional musician ....... How little he knew couldn't be further away!

Argus is my favorite Wishbone Ash recording , I still have my vinyl copy. They were such a great band and I always admired Andys playing. One of the reasons I just had to get a Flying V back then They really were an incredible band. So cool you were so close to such great talent! One of my favorite tunes:

I really liked the band, with Argus a special favorite. If I'm not mistaken, Andy Powell now lives in CT! I saw "Wishbone Ash" with him some years ago at a local venue. Very entertaining.

Don't turn a Blind Eye to their 1st album - that's what got me hooked Yea the first one hooked me and I purchased the next several. As I recall they had a great live album. I think it was called Live Dates. It was like a "Best Of," but live. That one played in my car all the time.

There are two Wishbone Ash bands currently, Andy Powell has the right to use the name, so his band is Wishbone Ash, and original founding member Martin Turner, after some legal wrangling, has to go out under the name of "Martin Turner plays the music of Wishbone Ash". He's not even allowed to call it "Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash" any more. I saw the Martin Turner band a few weeks ago, and loved it. They played much of the old material from my youth, such as The King Will Come, Warrior, Blowing Free, and Persephone, and it was great to hear it all again. Guitarist Ted Turner left the band some years ago, but occasionally joins them for a gig or two, and when I was trawling through their stuff on You Tube I came across Ted Turner using what looked like a Z Maz head with a Z Best!

One of my first big concerts of my youth was Black Sabath in support of their first album. It was the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. As we sat waiting for the show 20 rows back, the MC came out on stage and announced the opening act. Wishbone Ash. I could have easily left after their performance. My buddies and I were big fans of W.A., but we had no idea they were opening. Needless to say we were ecstatic. Saw them several more times in their original lineup. That was an incredible band.
