Looking to get a grab and go combo for small gigs. we do a lot of classic rock, southern rock and country. I like to get clean with a bit of hair with just the amp, then add an overdrive for solos. Thanks!

Short answer--yes. That pretty much describes what the Ghia does. It's a loud little beast for an 18 watter, though. You might find that you want a Brakelite, too, depending on the room.

Thanks! You are describing the Ghia! Get one...you won't regret it! I have the 1x10 combo with a celestion gold speaker. Perfect grab and go club amp. Small, light, sounds great.

I love my Ghia and I just did a gig with that kind of tone and it worked great. Miced up with a good soundman and monitors.
But...
I'd say that's a maybe depending on how "clean" clean is to you. And where the gig is.
For me I've run out of juice in bar situations where we're not micing the amps. I've had to turn up past what I call clean. And even then I've run out of volume vs a loud band.
I got around it by running two amps. Either adding a tweed Bassman or an old Gibson to up the volume.

I use a 1-10 Ghia combo with an 8pc horn band and it's plenty (but I'm mic'd up). I set mine to about 10 o'clock and use an OD for dirt.

Taking the GV down a hair can clean the Ghia up real nice on the bandstand.

And don't overlook the effect speaker choice has on volume. The difference between a 97 and a 103 db speaker is dramatic - choosing a speaker at least in part based on your volume needs is a big help.

^^^ indeed. I think the Doc's standard 10" for the Ghia is the Red Fang at ~103db.

Thanks all for the info!
I'm thinking of getting a 1x12 combo. If I have gigs that need more headroom, I have s 2x10 extension cab that I can use as well.

Check out the C-Blue. Could be a great speaker choice for you with the Ghia.

I have the the same setup as John with the 10" Celestion Gold. I have had no problems whatsoever hanging with two other guitars and a drummer. I was playing about as clean as you can get. I do run a 5751 is V1 with a 12AX7 in V2. I'm sure this plays a big factor but it sure sounds good!
