Hey guys I am brand new to this forum and really love all the information.
I am currently in the market for a Dr Z amp, but am having a tough time deciding which amp will be the best for my needs. I have narrowed it down to the Carmen Ghia, M-12, or Z-28.
I am looking for a single channel amp in the 10-20 watt range with a real nice glassy clean chime with as much headroom as possible. I get all of my dirt tones from various boost and OD pedals, so I need it to take pedals well.
My current effects chain: Fuzz Face > Dunlop Hendrix Wah > TRex Viper Vibe > A-Ok Clean Boost > HAO Rust Booster II > HAO Rust Driver > TC Elec Delay > TC Elec Reverb all into the front of a 5 watt Hughes and Kettner. It's sounds nice but I am in search of an amp with more headroom to allow the pedals to shine.
I play a American Strat and a Gibson ES 335 dot. I mostly play Hendrix, Blues and Classic Rock. I would love any feedback anyone has on what Dr. Z amp may best fit my needs.

I am looking for a single channel amp in the 10-20 watt range with a real nice glassy clean chime with as much headroom as possible. Those two terms are usually contradictory. A person who's looking for "Real nice glassy clean chime"...isn't looking for a lower wattage amp. People want lower wattage amps because they break up quickly. But like Roscoe said...are you planning on gigging with this amp? That makes a big difference. I would speculate you don't, because trying to get a 10-20 watt amp to keep up with a live drummer (and rest of band) will not result in "glassy clean chime". If you could tell us a bit more about your situation/circumstances, we'll do our best to point you in the right direction. ....and welcome to the forum.

Once you plug into a Ghia, all those silly pedals in your chain will disappear.

Welcome to the forum.
I have all three amps. Happy to help you sort out which one might suit you best. But as several of the guys have mentioned, we need to know more about what type of music, whether you're gigging/hoping to gig, etc.

Thanks for all the feedback. I will mostly be using it for home/studio practice and recording using an iso cab. The only live use for this amp would be small bar like venues with just a drummer and myself.

M-12.
(although you could use a Z-28 for this at lower volumes, and also a Ghia is very very nice at lower cleaner volumes.)

M12 seems best fit for your pedals and plans.

Just pick one. You'll probably have all three by the end of 2015 if you are anything like us......

A Carmen Ghia with a 5751 tube in V1 will stay plenty clean with a drummer. At least when using a Strat. It's actually one of the best clean tones out there in my opinion. I mostly play it clean and use pedals for dirt.

I love my Ghia and it's my favorite amp ever in fact but in this case it seems like M12 will match your desires the best since it was made to have as much clean chimey headroom as possible in a low wattage amp and be best used as a pedal platform.
welcome to Z Forum !!
