Last night I went to an old aquaintance's house to jam. There were two other guitars and a drummer. Both the other guitarists were playing through 4x12 cabinets. I was a little worried I would get get buried by them using my little Ghia 1x10. Boy was a I wrong! I cut right through the mix. They were both using Les Paul style guitars with some heavier gain. I was very impressed how well my Strat through the Ghia held up. I also played clean and kept up with the drummer at 9 o clock. Very cool for an 18 watt amp. Anyways, just thought I would share with you all.

Very nice. I had a similar experience jamming with some friends. The other guitarist is notorious for being really loud. He was running a cranked /13. (Very nice amp, btw.) I had my Ghia 1x10 and had to use the Brake Lite.  |

The Ghia has just enough grit on tap.
Imagine the Dos Equis guy saying ..... "I don't play gigs very often, but when I do, I prefer the Dr Z Carmen Ghia".

Out of all my amps the Ghia gets the majority of the work. I have Fender, Marshall and Mesa amps...but there is something about the Ghia that just cuts through the mix. 18 Z watts go along way. It is the perfect grab and go amp.

The Ghia continues to top my list as Best Amp EveRR !! What speaker in the 1x10 ? Celestion Gold. I was debating whether or not I should change the speaker or not. I wanted something a little less efficient. I've decided that it just sounds too darn good for me to change. The Gold is a winner in the Ghia. |

I wanted something a little less efficient. I've decided that it just sounds too darn good for me to change. The Gold is a winner in the Ghia. The Ghia sounds great with quite a few speakers...most that I've tried. It can be really nice to have a few options around to fit the gig. Some more or less efficient ... I've yet to try the 10" Gold but the 12" sounds great. The Red Fang 10" certainly is no slouch either. At 102db it can hold it's own. |
