First post ever. Really appreciate the shared wisdom here. Looking for advice on pairing a 110 or 210 cab with my Carmen Ghia 25th (#49 in black). Probably with Gold 10s or GB 10s. I've always played a 212 cab (V30 & 70th) but need something more portable and with a bit less volume. Need this cab for small/pub venues. Tele and a Timmy playing Country/Americana/Rock. Currently looking at Avatar Vintage 210 with Gold 10s.

I'd say skip on the 2x10 if you want more portable and less volume. The 2x10 with the GB 10's might be nice because they are lower output speakers and so you'll get the fullness of the 2x10 but not all the volume. That said a 1x10 with a Gold would do your genera of music real nice and also fit your volume and transport desires. I have a normal Ghia with a 2x10 that holds Eminence Legend 10516's and I love the 2x10 pairing with the Ghia. Two speakers just sound fuller than one speaker but when you are playing with a band the fullness thing will just come from the band anyway so my vote is still 1x10.
Welcome to Z Talk bro !

Avatar lists 110 and 210 as same size and weight. Would the 210 be that much louder than a 110? Worth the "fullness" factor?

What about Doc's 1x10 with a Gold or Greenback?

I use a Ghia 1x10 combo with a gold. It's a fantastic club amp. Sounds great and it's small and light.
I'm surprised Avatar's 1x10 and 2x10 cabinets are the same size. Personally, I'd go with a 1x10 cabinet, but look for something smaller than the Avatar. They're 22 wide, 18 high...that's just overkill for a 1x10.
Like Simpleton said, there's a big difference in volume (given the same amount of power) between a 10" greenback, a 10" gold and a 12" V30. The V30 will be LOUD...maybe a little too loud for a small rig. But the greenback will most likely be too quiet. I use a 10" gold and it fits right in the middle. Sounds great with the Ghia.

Thanks for all the info. I've never owned a Z cab or any 10s.

I use a Ghia 1-10 combo with a Red Fang and play music similar to what you do. I was looking for max clean headroom and the RF is one of the loudest 10s out there. Love it!

(I've A/B'd a lot of tens, but strangely never ponied up for the Gold; plus I liked the GB anyway, so I stayed with that.)

I have a Ghia head with a 2x10 and am looking to downsize to a 1/10. I use pedals for distortion so I guess I'm looking at as much clean headroom as possible. Red Fang be a better speaker for me than the Ramrod? How about the Gold?

My 1x10 came with a red fang and it was too loud for my applications. If I need something for a big/loud gig, I have a Remedy. The Gold was the perfect fit for me. But if you need LOTS of clean headroom...the Red Fang could be your best bet.

Very happy with the Dr Z 110 cab. Stock Ramrod sounded great. Put the gold 10 in today, also sounds great. Looking forward to getting the gold broken in. Thanks for the info and insight.

Just tossing out another 10" that I just got and love. The WGS G10C/S. Warm and smokey....sounds great with my CG25th and I love it with the Monza. Not expensive either. Dr Z amps really respond to speaker changes.
