I used the my Ghia combo with a 1x10 Gold at a live video shoot yesterday. We did a few rehearsals to be prepared for this shoot. The bands a big line up. 2 Guitars, Bass, Hammond Keys/Piano 2 drummers so we are pushing a lot of air around to say the least.
We rehearsed in a smaller room so I brought the Ghia down from the start to try and control volume and keep order in the room. It worked so well that when we were ready to do the shoot I said to the other guitarist that we need to bring our small amps there and not get caught up with our larger rigs on a larger sound stage.
We did 4 hours of live video yesterday and I had that little Ghia with a mic on-er and just asked for a good monitor feed. Holy Cow!
The bad has big guitar parts with rhythm, harmony lines and a decent amount of solo work. I had a Klon Klone (from our forum member) running most of the time with the Volume and Tone at 12 o clock. I stacked a Velvet Fuzz for the solo work with the Klone.
Everyone who was there just couldn't believe the tone coming out of the little combo. It has so exceeded my expectations!!!
Major props for the Doc on such a simple design. It doesn't get much better than this!
Ghia solo at the end.... The Mountain Jam Orchestra

If there's a sound that's not in the Ghia I don't need it.

Can't wait to see/hear your stuff, Danny.

+1. I used my 1x10 combo equipped with a gold this weekend. It's a pretty small stage so it worked out. Awesome tone in this little box - sounds much bigger than she looks. The 10" gold plus Doc's 1x10 cab is a perfect match IMO.

I haven't had my Ghia long, but I'm still impressed each time I turn her on. I want more amps, but sometimes I wonder if I can find anything better than my Ghia. It just lets so much of your guitar tone come through. I feel that it would hard to find something I like more.

You can always buy a few more cabs with different speakers and that will make your Ghia have many more voices The Ghia is by far my favorite amp on planet earth and I can't wait to hear/see the videos as well.

I've thought about other cabs as well. Should I just get the Z cab or is there something else I should be looking at? The Z cabs look real nice, but they are a pretty penny.

Z cabs may not be cheap, but like everything else you get what you pay for. The Doc's cabs are built like a tank, and built in the USA I might add. They are also a big part of the tonal package that makes up a Z amp. I've used cheaper cabs with my Z amps and they do OK, but I can definitely tell a difference when going back to the Z cab.

Sounds great! And sustain for days. Nice job. Love the song. That was one our fav songs we did in a band in which I previously played. Brought back memories. Thanks for sharing.

Nice comparison video, fender (I think?) amp on the lead at about 3:15 and the CG toward the end....
