i continue to be amazed by this amp. the KT-45 has such a beautiful range of sounds and tones with only three knobs. i have traditionally used a little bit of reverb to add some depth to my sound, but with the KT-45 i do not miss reverb in the least. it simply is not necessary with this amp. i can dial in as much depth as i need with the three simple knobs. before the KT-45 i also used pedals to add distortion and overdrive, but this amp is so touch sensitive that i can get clean or distorted tones through light or heavy picking and use of the guitar's volume knobs. the KT-45 may be pedal-friendly as many of you have said, and i'll probably experiment with some pedals along the way, but so far i have been extremely satisfied just plugged in direct.

I really like the semi-clean sounds I get with the strat even more than it's crunch tones, but then again, those old school crunch tones are killer!!

Do you guys have solid state rectifiers in your KT-45s, or tube? I've got one with solid state,a nd as much as I love the amp, I'm curious about trying it with a tube rec.

Mine has a NOS JAN Philips/Sylvania 5AR4 mislabeled 5V4GA in it and I love it.

skydog, i got the same rec tube and am having it installed in my amp as we speak. in the bias notes, Dr. Z says to rebias when going from the SS rectifier to the tube rectifier, but i thought i saw a post from myles saying that rebiasing is not necessary. i went the safe route and am letting someone who knows what they are doing change out the tube. i'll let you know how it turns out.

as much as i love the KT-45, i did start to miss the reverb for some applications. what can i say, sometimes you just gotta have a little reverb. i picked up a van amps sole-mate reverb unit and i am quite pleased. skydog and others, if you're looking to add reverb to your KT-45 set up, the sole-mate is a good way to go in my opinion.

Sweet! I've read into the sole-mate a while back and it looks good. If I ever feel the need for reverb I'll seriously consider it, but that may be for a while anway since there are plently of things on my gear-to-buy list I'd have to go through first.
