Hey guys, I think that my Maz 8s tubes have seen their day.
I thought that I had noticed some extra noise going on lately, then the other day, I fired it up and nada. I went through the pedal board cables, I thought that one was suspect before, but they were Ok. So, what I should've done in the first place, I plugged straight in, still nada.
No signal coming through, when the board was hooked up, I could faintly hear when a dirt pedal was engaged. I have yet to look at the tubes when the amp was on, so I'm not sure if anything was not glowing.
I'm in Canada and shop at the TubeStore. They offer recommended sets for amps, but nothing for the Maz 8.
Should I change them all out, just in case? That's my assumption. Any favorites, or tubes to stay away from?

Thanks Bill, that's my next step.
Which tubes are recommended for each spot though, is my real question. Should I just change everything anyways, even if it's just a single tube that's the problem?

This is built in '11, I believe, with the original tubes.

If you decide to retube with one of the packages from the Tube Store , you could get one of the Maz 18 Jr. sets and have a spare EL84. The Maz 8 has the same tube compliment minus 1 EL-84.

That's a good , solid set they're offering IMHO. As for NOS , yeah if it's in your budget that's a great way to go , especially for pre-amp tubes. I personally always use an NOS rectifier , because new ones typically don't last long and often cause a lot of grief when they blow. NOS recto is expensive but most likely will be the last rectifier you will ever buy. I also always put an NOS 12AT7 in the reverb driver spot (V3) because they put out the proper current and are usually quiet , not to mention last for decades. Just my 2 cents.

How about in the section for the Maz Jr., in the tubes they offer, there's an option for "Matched Triodes (balanced)". It's a $5 upcharge. What's that about and is it worth it? I appreciate the help gentlemen.

Definitely worth it for the Phase Inverter. My own personal preference is V1 & V2 balanced triodes , V3 and V4 : Nice , but not critical. Just the way I go , FWIW.
