I have a MAZ38Sr and for some reason, probably bad luck, I've gone through a lot of 12AT7's in the reverb driver. First a slew of GT's then I tried some JJ ECC81's. All these went microphonic or failed in a relatively short time. It's like, when I have an issue with the amp I immediately replace the 12AT7 reverb driver and that fixes it. I'm now trying some NOS Phillips 12AT7's. Wish me luck! Other than that the amps been perfect.

Try a NOS tube - they have much longer lifespan. (provided you don't have another fault in the driver-circuit - ask Doc for advice) Try the military Briamar as an example: www.kcanostubes.com/products/77/NOS-Brimar-CV4024.htmNot too expensive either. You can email Mike at KCA NOS and ask his recommendation - or you can of course ask Doc or Myles. Cheers: Dixiechicken!

You may have a bad cap or resistor in the bias supply for that V3 tube in your MAZ.

Thanks Myles. I just changed it and the JJ I removed clanged like a bell when I tapped it. If I get another premature failure I'll definitly have the circuit checked out. Anyone in LA you can recommend?

Anyone in LA you can recommend? Billy Yates - find him via TrueTone music. One of the best techs (and players) on the planet and also an authorized Z warranty fellow but he is a Vox, Fender, Marshall icon as well.

Thanks for the hit Myles, I've seen his articles in Vintage guitar. I'll definitely look him up if the problem continues.
