Thinking of placing an order today for the newest version of the catalinbread dirty little secret Mlll. Anybody here have the latest version? Thoughts and opinions? It sounds great on the video clips ive heard. Wondering how it will pair with a maz jr?

It's a great pedal. Very organic and responsive in both the SB and SL modes. It can do low/medium gain to modded high gain tones. I've used in on my SRZ and KT and it's sounds fantastic. Catalinbread makes amazing pedals. Never tried one of their pedals that was poor.

I should note that it does great cab thump too which is something I've never seen in any other distortion pedal that I've used before.
I recently purchased and Okko Dominator and the DLS holds it own with that pedal. The Okko has a tighter low end and an almost less saggy feel to it than the DLS - hard to describe really. Almost like the DLS has a tube rectifier and the Okko has a SS rectifier. If that makes any sense lol.
For the price, versatility, tone and size, it's hard to argue against the DLS.

I was a bit surprised when I got mine. I was counting on having the gain go from very slight to, well, heavy. Sort of how I would expect a preamp to behave. Instead, to me, it goes from substantial to way too much.
Since I really like the tone from my clone-Klon into my MAZ Jr with the volume around 3 'clock - but not so much with the volume in a clean setting - my plan was to use the DLS as a preamp after the Klon-clone into the MAZ. It can sound great, but the dials need to be almost nil.
In short, I wish it was more subtle on low settings.

Oops, just realized I answered an old topic. I missed it when it first came up... In order to help you, have you try to set the pedal in Super Bass mode (inside switch). The gain is lower and easyer to control in this mode (and it sounds really good!)

It's a great sounding pedal, just a bit more gainy than expected. Since this discussion came up, I rewired my pedalboard so that I now have the DLS running at 18VDC. Too much people in the house to do a proper soundcheck, but hoping that will get me some headroom. Thanx for the suggestion Easyroom.
