How are you guys using your master on the 25th anniversary? I'm finding that I still prefer it out of the circuit (maxed) Anyone else? It sounds a bit squishy to me, especially when volume is up past 10:00, and master below that. Thoughts?

I too prefer it out and understand why the Dr did not include it on the final product. BUT it is very nice to have. I understand that it will change it some but I don't really care because it still sounds great. I can leave a drive pedal at home for a small grab and go type jam as well.

I think nmz meant the ORIGINAL Ghias, but just guessing.

I bought the Ghia 25th because I think of the CG as the classic Z model - and, quite frankly, because it was so heftable (did I mention it's also unbearably cute in its downsized chassis?) The presence of the master volume was a consideration, but I find I wind it out contention more often than not. Why? i) I'm essentially a clean to edge of breakup player, and get my solo lift from a TC Spark Booster, ii) I have some ridiculous puritanical need to conjure up my sound from a minimum of variable sources, and iii) despite intense love for my Lonestar Special, the options anxiety all those knobs and switches create is definitely something that has driven me into the arms of lovely Carmen. More positively, the MV is a great addition to the amp, as it provides more textures and tones to work with in a recording context, and on those days when I'm ready for a little more growl, it offers tonal catharsis. I love the CG 25th unreservedly, and want to find it another Z-mate; the Z28 perhaps as another flavour (although the Jaz 20-40 is a wonderful concept, although rarer than rare here in Albion)? Suggestions on a postcard please...

I just got the Monza and it is a great dirtier mate for the Ghia....the proto type name for the monza was ghia gt. They sound great together in stereo or A/B for specific tones. Master volumes are nice for home use and incase the venue/room needs it toned down some to match the vibe. Of course for my experience, I am in reference to the Monza MV.
Z28 is a shiny object and I am a fish.

I actually bought mine for the Master, played it in the store, and it works great, I said beautiful However, I A/B'd it with my Maz 18, which I was using as a pedal platform, and preferred the GHIA Think I've been using the GHIA wide open 90% of time as a pedal platform The Mad Professor Fire Red Fuzz is a thing of beauty through that amp, and after a lengthy speaker shootout, I 'm using the Heritage Greenback Killer setup

I also bought the Ghia for the MV. I didn't want to carry around the brake lite. I mainly play humbuckers and have the volume at 1:30, tone at 11-11:30 and MV on 9:00 for band rehearsals. I go through 2 cabs, 1x12 Z, middle panel removed and celestion gold, the other is the z 2x10 with the doc's speakers, no panels removed. I use a Y speaker cable made by PCNS.
