I'm gonna give my Wreck one more try tomorrow night. I haven't bonded with it and I already have it listed in BST section. It breaks up a little to early for me...but I'm gonna try less pedals and more guitar volume knob for grit and see how it works out for me for the more classic country stuff we play.

I totally agree. It breaks up real quick...but not in a bad way just maybe a little too much for country.

I can see this being a problem for someone that wants really loud cleans. I traded my Stangray for my Z-Wreck and noticed right away that, while I still used my Brake-lite, I didn't have to cut the volume down as much to get in the "sweet spot" because the Z-Wreck does get "hair" at a lower volume than the Ray. There's some shows where I had the Ray cut back two clicks that I don't need to use an attenuator on the Z-Wreck. It may be a little too loud, but I get by with it... And anytime I can skip the attenuator, I'm all for it! I have the head/2x12 cab...I can see where a 1x12 combo might be harder to use in a full, loud band situation and still stay clean... That's a big plus for a lot of player, but at the same time can be a problem for a lot of players. I for one like this.

Just on the outside chance you haven't checked...
Are you using the comfort or speed setting?

I had the same issue Brian. I loved the natural overdrive that the zwreck has but to me, it broke up too early for classic country stuff. I wanted the best of both worlds, cleans when needed and overdrive when needed. I sold mine and opted for the m12. I couldn't be happier. The m12 with a wampler paisley drive sounds very close to a zwreck. There's not a single pedal that I've thrown at the m12 that it didn't love. Maybe one day I could get a zwreck combo and set it for overdriven tones with a brake lite and use my m12 combo for cleans. That would be a killer setup.

^^^^ good solution: M12 + wampler paisley drive. it's also easier to deal with volume level. however I would never sell the Zwreck. it has the best sound for new country stuff IMHO. yes it's a bit too dirty for classic country...but I love this dirt

After playing one set with the Wreck I swapped over to my Maz 18. The Wreck is for sure for sale and the Maz is just my go to amp. The Maz is easier for me to dial in my sound. The Wreck is awesome...just not for me.

sounds like you'd be better off with an amp loaded with 6L6's if you want clean for country.

I like a little grit...but the Wreck gets too dirty too fast.

Can not use the volume on the guitar to get cleans loud?

Keep volume on guitar a 6/7 then turn it to get dirty?
