Well I now start round 3 with the Ghia, albeit with (I think) much more knowledge about tube & speaker setups this time. Something tells me that my initial letdown with previous Ghia's was (A) speaker choices and (B) not using a real 5751 in V2.
So a new 'Ghia has arrived (built in late '13) with a JJ ECC83S in V1 and Tung-Sol 12AX7 in V2, E-H EL84EH's, and a JJ 5Y3S rectifier. Needless to say, V1 & V2 will be promptly replaced with NOS glass—an RFT 12AX7 and a JAN GE 5751—before I pass any judgement. Oh, and the amp will be plugged into a "proper" speaker... the G12 Blue.
This also marks my first blonde amp and—although I will soon be swapping my Z-28 into the blonde headshell, making my Ghia black—I must say, the blonde/tan is a really pretty choice. I think the cream knobs kind of help.. but in any case, it's gorgeous!

If you insist! Unboxed at work, waiting to go home tonight... Magical green jewel lamp and all (athough, I have seen all green's lately, so I believe Doc has made this his new standard for Ghia's).
