I am expecting an order from GT tomorrow, and was curious. I have seen some balanced 5751's, what does that mean to my amp vs. unbalanced 5751's?

So, Myles my order was placed last week, and I mentioned "picked by Myles" and that they were for a Mazerati. Does this mean that I got a matched 5751 for my phase inverter? I have had both preamp tubes in since I bought it. When should they be changed? Thanks myles
P.S. Did the amp come with balanced preamp tubes from Z?

The 5751's will not be matched as GT generally charges extra for that but if I picked them you might find that they are matched by accident and any output tubes may have been hand traced by accident also. What I have noticed on a lot of Z amps is that the phase inverters are generally very nicely matched or very close. This may be a side benefit of each amp being test played and tube selection happens at that time I believe. There is just too much consistancy to be an amp that tubes get stuff in and then if the amp makes sound out of the speaker at all it is boxed and shipped. The Doc and his guys are pretty picky.

I got the tubes today, I actually like the ECC83-S and the 5751M, they are soft and smooth. The amp is a little more spongy, clear, and not as hot in the input.
I like the EL84's with a rating of #4, but they sure do rattle. What is the GT warranty regarding this? I can hear them rattle with the volume @9:00 and up. My other GT EL84's do not rattle at any volume. I should just get some tube dampners, cause EL84's seem to rattle.
These tubes are nice, Myles, great accident. And thank you very much.

Foxx, The GT EL84's .... no matter where you bought them, should not rattle and this would be covered under warranty for three months (six months on preamp tubes by the way). Call Patrick at GT toll free at 1-800-459-5687 and they will all be replaced under warranty. If only one tube rattles the entire quad will be replaced by the way, GT only replaces full matched sets and not just an offending tube in a set to assure a proper dynamic match.
