Myles, I just got ahold of some Amperex EF86/6267. Markings are" "made in holland"..8Y5-F1J1 with what appears to be 5 small stars below that. There is a tube playin' the Bugle on the front...the markings are in white..silver mesh..Questions are: Are these decent tubes to use in my StingRay either as main or backup? What tests "good" for these tubes? I have never owned an amp that used these so I am not familiar with the "good-bad-and ugly" of EF86's Whatever info/advice you can toss my way will be appericated... thanks...Mike

Amperex Bugle Boys are always considered to be top shelf items. This is not to say that everyone loves the tone (there's NOTHING that everyone loves) but the manufacturing quality is top notch.
Try it as a main tube and see what you think. All the opinions in the world shouldn't change YOUR opinion.

thanks Mike, just wanted to get a feel for the tube from others that have used it....looking for how its "supposed" to sound...course thats objective as well...lets see how it goes..
