So, curious about a new cab for my Maz 38NR.
Anyone have any direct experience between the Z open back and the Matchless? I have the Z 212 currently (with a G12M and G12H30), but am finding it a bit....stiff sounding. I read alot about the matchless being the cats arse, with all the 'swirly' and '3D' talk you could imagine about it.
From what I gather, Matchless is a bit more open in the back, has 'beam blockers', and doesn't have the 'lens' thing (which from what I've seen is basically a 1.5" baffle. It's also about 10 lbs lighter.
Assume difference in price isn't an issue. I'm just curious about the differences in the sound of the cabs.

Highly recommend you also looking at a 65 Amps open back 212 (Blue line). Best-sounding 212 I've ever played through.

I love my Matchless 2x12 with just about anything. Sorry I don't have experience with the Z open 2x12 though so not sure how much help I am. Unless you are near San Antonio and want to try it out.

THD 2-12 cabs are some good sounding cabs, I use one with redfangs....small but sounds really big...and open back enough for some airy sounds , and closed enough for that 4-12 vibe. the stock speakers are not bad at all, I just had a pair of fangs and tossed them in there to see how they would sound and been there every since...
