I'm still trying to decide on my next amp. I have a Maz 18nr head and 1x12 cab and looking to get either a Carmen Ghia or M12. I do have a brakelite SA. Will a 1x10 be any quieter than a 1x12 with the Ghia? I would like my next amp to be a little more portable and quieter than the Maz if possible. I kind of like the tone of the Ghia a little better than the M12 but i still want to be able to drive it a little and keep a low stage volume with the help of the brakelite….

In general, the Ghia breaks up sooner and is not as loud as the Maz Jr.
I have a 1x10 Ghia combo with a brake lite installed. It's fantastic. I actually hardly ever use the brakelite during gigs, but I run it pretty clean.
Yes, all things being equal, a 10" speaker will be quieter than a 12". But it depends too. A 10" Red fang against some low efficiency 12" speakers could make a difference.

Imo, you need to consider what speaker you will use with the Ghia. High or low efficiency? A 10" Red Fang, which is quite efficient, makes for a loud Ghia, for example. Obviously you can use the BL to tame the output volume, as you plan.
Another aspect is how much clean headroom do you want to have available. Depending on how hot your pickups are, the Ghia starts to get some dirt in its tone around 11 (o'clock) on the volume, or even a little before. Lower volume knob setting + very efficient speaker will give you louder clean volume.
Of course, you can always crank the Ghia and get a lot of push, then dial your guitar volume back, possibly way back, to clean up.
I use a 1x10 Ghia with the Red Fang for many of my gigs. Small footprint, under 40 lbs. Extremely satisfying tone machine.
Added: I was composing this before John's post appeared, so please excuse redundancy.

Put a 10" Greenback (95 dB) in there and with the help of a Brake-Lite, you can have overdrive at very reasonable volumes. The GB sounds great with the Ghia, I think.

Thanks guys for the replies. My intent was to get the stock 1x10 cab and replace with a c gold. If I get the Ghia it will be my first amp without a master volume and I do like to run my amps with a little grit.

Has the master volume which would allow more possibilities with a gold for sure.

I like it SO much more than the Red Fang that came with it. But I'm looking for that country tele tone. Others here in the forum like the Red Fang.

Others here in the forum like the Red Fang. I'm one of those. I'm mainly using it for blues/blues-rock slinging an LP, and the RF suits me for this purpose. If I were playing country with a Tele, I might well go with a different speaker.

Then I'd go for the 10" gold...or perhaps the Weber 10" blue pup. (Weber is probably a lower volume speaker)

Something inefficient like a 12" greenback should tame it down pretty good and still sound robust..
