Took my z28 out on the town last night for our first gig together. Man, I gotta say, this thing is the perfect inbetweeneener sweet and sour amp for me. (Not a Chinese reference.. 'Merica!) Part American freshly windexed glass cleans, part British grow my hair out and start a garage band Snarl!
But seriously- I really dig it. Ran it with a 1x12 open back and green back in it. I used a brake lite (2clicks) which I typically despise, but the '28 sounds great with it and it retains it's mojo and feel. So right there allowed me to crank it up to about 2 on the volume, 2 on bass and 12-1 on the treble. It also allowed me to minimize my OD pedal use and get that pure raw tube tone. The amp really impressed me with how flexible a 3 knob amp can be with just the guitar and a cable. Then throw in an OCD or Boiling point pedal and you have more versatility than any 50 knob mesa ever thought about having. I also throw a reverb tank, in front of it. This amp sops pedals up with a biscuit. It's glorious. Imma happy camper.

A BrakeLite allows you to turn this amp into a tone monster for any size venue I've found. And with a humbucker loaded guitar you don't need OD pedals unless you really want to make it go Santana or something.
