Even on amps I've had with multi knobs....I've always just set and forget. My ghia is no different.
Volume and tone: 11:00 (going for that rather clean country tone.)
For quite sometime, I've hardly ever played electric guitars at home....just acoustic. (I'm going through a big acoustic phase) But over the weekend, the wife was out and I got out the Ghia and tele. (1x10 gold) With brakelite on full.
The tone seemed rather bright to me. I ended up moving the tone to 1:00
Then I started moving the volume knob around. I found the more I move the volume knob up to around 2:00, I need to turn the tone back to 11:00. In other words, turning up the volume made it a little dark and I needed to brighten it up.
Anyone else experience this?

I just offed my 1/10 on ebay...I feel violated because of the deal...what are you going to do.
I couldn't dial in the tone I needed for my teles...I ended up tone on 2 predominatly. Not sure if vol had the darkening affect?could have.
since teles are my main go to's I have to be comfortable with my sound...great little guy...but it was a no go.

Yes it was and I believe we have had this discussion,....Did some research on putting in gold...I was steered away from doing so.Spent enough time to know better,This amp is not for me.
Im looking into a more dedicated tele amp.maybe something....(gasp) not z...In the meantime the ghias getting replaced with a maz studio 18.

I just tried your approach with my Tele and did not notice the Ghia sounding significantly darker when I rolled the volume up on the guitar. Played thru a Blue 12.

It's not significantly. It was pretty subtle...but I could tell.

Turning up the volume (after the amp starts to break up SHOULD "darken" the tone. It's a matter of the hi frequencies getting buried in the saturation. Common. I've experienced this in several amps, especially low powered amps like old small, tweed Fenders where you can readily hear this "darkening" phenomenon at the low db levels of smaller tweed amps when cranked. (See avatar for example)

I have heard this on multiple amps over time. I like the effect myself. Opens up different options. I usually like how amps sound around 1:00 - 3:00 on the volume control. Just my preference.
One cool thing I found with my JB14 and Germino Classic 45 was high amp volume with middle guitar volume gave a bright kind if tone. Turn up the guitar it thickened up and compressed just enough. Quite fun.

Same here with the MV on the anni. When I got it the other guitar player in the band thought it brighter then he expected. So I dimed the master and just used it in its traditional set up and thought it darkened as I turned up the volume. Not much but to me it seemed to thicken up and I loved it! Play it mostly with out the MV but love the option.
