Why is that particular model so rare?

BTW, this could possibly by my old Carmen Ghia. I had a head that I converted to a combo and sold around 2002 with the exact cosmetics including the chicken head knobs.

General consensus seems to be that it ain't THAT rare! I can't imagine there is a Ghia out there worth $4K, but I'm no Z expert like some of the folks here.

I wonder if the over the top hype written in the listing plus the initial asking price made potential buyers skeptical about the whole thing. Didn't really jibe with the down-to-earth-ness that seems to be common with Z folk.
