Hi,
I have a like brand new all original vintage Dr Z Carmen Ghia 2 x 10 combo. I've read the company started in 88, wonder if any came out in late 87.
This is a true (found it in the basement) story. My father played lead guitar in a couple small bands growing up and continued buying equipment through out his life. He played rock & blues. Blues review magazine had a contest back in the 80's looking for the most talented dobro / slide player of the month (he sent in a tape of him playing) and he won a guitar signed by BB KING and JOE PASS that month and they mentioned him in a little article.
He passed away in mid 2009. I'm 43, never really played or took much interest in it. He could never understand how I could love to listen to music but had no interest in playing.
Since I can't use any of it, I've been selling the pedals/efects, amps, guitars and other musical instruments on different venues for about 3 years now. Yes, he had that much, an absolutely amazing amount. We live in Kentucky. The amps and pedals are / were from the 50's on up until until about 95 for the most part. Amazed me how much was down there / in the basement. I've learned that the smallest difference can make a huge difference in price.
Anyway, I get to this Dr Z Carmen Ghia 2 x 10 Combo a couple days ago Dec 10 2013. I haven't done a lot of research on it but from what I've read over the past couple days I'm thinking it may be quite a jewel. It looks like he bought it and just stored it, Fabulous condition, I've looked on Goog Images and haven't seen another identical to this one in color. It's black but the speaker cloth is more like a maroon color.
I do have pictures, not sure how to add them here, when I click on add image, it asks for a URL. The chassis is stamped L-7387, has volume, tone and a switch. The knobs are not round like others I see but more pointed.
The transformer has a sticker that says:
Dr Z 7002
Cin Tran 3399
30-0032
Thanks for any info and I'll be happy to post some pics if anyone knows how. thanks
