One of the best mods made to any amp I've heard - it just opens the amp up. Love mine!

Oh Yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Way punchier at low volume than using the Brake, and more mids/highs than using the Brake - more clarity. And the tone bypass - way better than the one on the MAS18 I used to own. Yes. Very yes.

Way punchier at low volume than using the Brake, Do others feel this way? I still haven't had mine modded yet. Absolutely! Since the mod, the Remedy has become my main gigging amp, even for small 50 people venues. There's just no way I could control the volume at 40W setting with an attenuator anything like as well as I can with the MV. The fact that it's a PPIMV makes ALL the difference - the amp retains its harmonic structure way down the volume to about 10 o'clock, and that's a LOT quieter than at full blast.

With the mods my Remedy is the one I use for gigging most of the time. I have a 1-12 cabinet for small gigs, a Z Best for medium size and an additional 2-12 closed back for festival gigs. I had trouble with volume in some smaller venues before the mods but can dial in anywhere now. The bypass mod sounds excellent IMHO.

If you're going to get the MV mod done, do the EQ Bypass as well - VERY useful. I use it all the time all over most songs - great for passing licks and phrases to give them a lift, and can work as a solo boost too, in the right setting. I used to have a Maz18, but didn't care for the EQ Bypass on it at all - I love it on the Remedy however.

Ditto to what Pete said. When I got the mods done, I was most looking forward to the PPI Master Volume. The EQ bybass was a very pleasant surprise.

Had my Rem back now for a few weeks and have really gotten to know the MV mod - there's no going back to a brake now, this MV is the bomb!!!!! Really, really, really dig it! Combined with the half power option, it rocks at literally any volume. Have rehearsed with the band a couple times with it - superb. I love being able to barely tweek the volume up rather than a "jump" in volume with the brake. And the clarity is so sweet, compared to the compressed sound that the brake gives the amp. Haven't gigged with it yet, but I've no doubt it'll be just as useful in any size room. For rehearsal with a (loud) full drum kit, I run my volumes at about 3:00 on both channels and then the master starts at 10:00, ends up at 12:00 or 1:00 by the time rehearsal is over (like every rehearsal/gig I've ever played, eh?), with the amp set on half volume. With these settings I get all the overdrive I ever need and it cleans up nicely with the guitar volume knob (no pedals). On full volume it is a bit louder and definitely punchier. And I gotta agree with Pete and the others, the tone bypass is very useful and sounds superb (not like the one on the MAZ18 I used to own). Biggest problem: I forget to use the tone bypass cause it already sounds so good just the way I have it set.
Next rehearsal, I gotta try starting the master at 10:00, then as things ramp up I'll hit the full power switch. And I gotta start using that fuzz pedal (tone bypass)!

Glad to hear it's working for you, jj, although it was hard to conceive that you wouldn't like it. What speakers are you running it through these days?
And a Merry Christmas to you.

Good Doctor! Yeah, there is nothing not to like about this amp now! Still using my Matchless 2-12 cabinet mostly, which has a "customized" G12H30 and 12M Greenback combination. Sounds a lot like the Z Best, but smaller and easier to carry for an old man. I have a Z Best but I just leave it in the studio and run different heads through it. Which reminds me, I wanna get out that Z 2-12 I have with two Celestion blues in it and compare those two cabs!
jj
and a merry Christmas to you, too. and to all our z brethren! (p.s. i got myself a fulltone tube tape echo for Christmas, haven't plugged it in yet, but i'm guessing it's gonna become a part of my rig for all occasions from this point forward! woohoo!)
