So a company I tech for freelance, recently acquired a Behringer X32 board designed and powered by Midas. I was sceptical at first but man they really killed it with this one. Behringer gets a bad wrap especially in the circles I travel. We typically use Midas or Yamaha Ls9/32... This board is making my job easy. I'll post pics later.

I have heard lots of good reviews on the X32. We want one because it will work with our behringer in ear monitor mixers..

The X32 was suggested to me about a year ago by a former band mate who has an extensive live sound background. At the time I was thinking about switching to the Presonus 24.4.2. It took a few months of reading and research before I was won over and took the plunge. I too, was extremely skeptical of anything Behringer. I must have read every thread on every message board before making a decision. So far it's worked out very well for us. I'm happy with the effects. Overall, I think the board sounds better than what we were using before. IEM mixes are much better too and easier to deal with.
Since purchasing this mixer I've re-vamped out entire PA. Swapped out out JBL MRX series mains and subs for QSC's and sold our power amps. The learning curve was steep for me since I've never used a digital mixer in the past but so far I've been getting good results. I've also purchased two of the S16 digital snakes but have not used them for a live show yet. Also have one of the P16-M personal monitor mixers which is nice. I've some some direct to USB 2-track recording with good results.
I'll be getting a MacBook Pro in a couple of weeks and plan to run Logic X. Hopefully I'll get up to speed recording up to 32 channels.
There is a lot of cool stuff in the X32 family of products. So far I'm thinking Behringer got this one right.

Cool!!! A 150 or 350 cat5 home run instead of a typical full snake, much nicer. I'm working with the board until Friday and then a few gigs next week. I'll report back with my findings later.

One word of caution. If you're using the S-16 Digital Snake it is recommended that you use shielded CAT5e or Cat6 cable with Ethercon cables. There is an issue where a static discharge can cause a momentary loss of sync between the X32 and S16. For some unknown reason not everyone has this problem. I live in Colorado which is of course, very dry. I've had the issue. If you touch anything metal that is connected to the console, such as a mic, you may have the issue. Losing sync between the X32 and the S16 will cause an audio dropout in addition to a loud pop. So far, this is the only issue I've had with this setup. Behringer's fix is to recommend the shielded cables with ethercon connectors. I'm not smart enough to know if there should be some internal fix to either the X32 or S16.
On another note, I've really enjoyed using the X32-edit application on my laptop. You can connect directly to the X32 via ethernet or hook up a wireless router. I use it a lot for set up. The iPad app is also pretty cool. Allows you to remote mix like the Presonus and others. Very nice.

Shielded cables are a must with any of this digital stuff. We had a few problems with our P-16M system and finally narrowed it down to non-shielded cables. Started using shielded only and problem solved.

Tried the snake today. Man did it work well. We recorded to a flash drive with good results as well. The Midas preamps are sick.
