Hey guys,
I'm SOOOOO excited, sorry in advance if I may sound overly happy.... I've had very good, and great amps for a while, combo, heads and cabs etc... But for some reason, never had a matching Head/Cab set. So I have had my Maz 18 for a couple of months now and loving it, but was running it through an old 4x12 (with nice results, just a pain to carry). Now just recently I had a chance to get a 1x12 (empty) in matching color (cream).
I had a speaker laying around at home for a while that I had got in a trade. It needed a bit of work, nothing major but once ready, I placed it in the 1x12 and.... OMG... seriously.... OMG. It is an Altec 417 8H, a 100 watt 8 ohms speaker. I had heard of them being in same ''family'' as the EVL12 and the Fanes as well, sort of a neutral sounding speaker (if that make any sense) that can handle a high wattage.
My amp with this cab just KILLS.... amazing detailed cleans, and my dirt pedals never sounded better (KOT, Suhr Shiba, Solid Gold FX If 6 was 9 fuzz).
So yea it is just an honeymoon post but wanted to know if anyone else had tried an Altec 417 8H before. I know it is now an ''old'' speaker and a lot less easy to find but it is a flavor I had just never had and a sweet one it is....
I'll try to post pictures tonigh

oh yah... my favorite speaker with the EL86 Z's (Route 66 and Z28 in particular). Mine's a C not an H... but still really really good. That is cool. I heard the H is a little darker than the C, which is ok for me since the Maz can be a little bright.
