I recently acquired a like new KT-45 (blonde) head and it's a really nice amp. I've been using a "closed back" Carol Ann 2x12 cab w/ (2) 16ohm Celestion Golds. Sounds awesome, a very big sound but I was curious, which type of cab do you guys prefer with the KT-45 (open, closed, etc?)

I use an open back 2x12 with my KT. Although I've used closed back cabs of various sizes in the past, all of my stuff now is open back because the sound is more spread out on the bandstand and seems to be easier for everybody to hear. I also use the same cab with my Rati v2 and use a 1x12 open back Mesa cab with my Route 66.

Thanks...I think I'll make a new 1/2 size back for the cab and give that a try

Just remember that there's no right or wrong; everybody hears differently. I know guys who swear by closed back cabs for jobs outdoors (because they say the cabinet is more directional and throws the sound forward) but for inside jobs they use open backs for the sound "spread" (up to and including turning the cab to face away from the audience and/or miking both the front and back of the cab).
There are lots of choices for you to consider.
