Sold my Maz 18 last night. Most difficult decision to say the least, but I wanted something less harsh and more soft around the edges. Going to pick up a used red M12 combo tomorrow, so wish me luck that it works out with the seller!!!

M12 is definitely a little softer around the edges - that is, until you add pedals then stand back

The M12 is a fantastic amp. Very well-rounded, and much softer feeling than some other Z's. There's just something about the Doc's 3-knob "Volume, Tone, Bass" EF-86 designs that makes 'em SO easy to dial in the perfect tone.

This is great to hear guys! I'm excited that I'm getting the combo, although I do have thoughts to pick up a red extension cab or a Z best and a head cab...

Here she is. I must say I dig the tone. It's loud but with a more manageable volume sweep than the Maz. I like it!!! I've got major tube issues though...very noisy and I've got a tube rattling somewhere...

Nice! I'm a sucker for red... I would take a guess and say your tube problem is most likely the ef86. Depending on how old it is, it may still be under warranty and Doc will send you a new one.

I had been using a Class 5 as my bedroom/practice amp but I think I'm going to sell that now and get some pedals to feed my M12!

For some reason I want to say mine doesn't have the shield. Just a retainer and dampers. I will have to douvle check that this evening.

To the OP: I wanted the same thing as you did and I sold my Maz (sr.) just like you and jumped for an M12 as well without ever demoing or having played it. I'm so glad I did. Glad to hear your liking the new amp It's the best Z I've ever played and one of my top amps ever played!

I like the tone of the Greenback, but I think I'd need a 2x12 and head cab for gigging. Weren't you selling your 2x12 at one point? PM me if you still are!

To clarify I actually did like the tone of the greenback in the 1x12 combo, that combo just got swallowed up live for me personally. Not enough projection for me. Great sound though, I just wanted more The 1x12 with the Blue sounds awesome too. I actually still have the Z-Best with my M12. Now I have MORE than enough projection Great and full sounding. FWIW: The Greenback 1x12 combo mic'd up had no problems whatsoever. It was just in its own i needed more.
