I got a Dr. Z 1x12 convertible cabinet from markT. It has the Tone Tubby Alnico. I also have the Dr. Z 2x10 convertible cab with the docs speakers.
Wow! To my ears, big difference. I had the center panel removed on both. The 12 was louder and brighter and more defined to me. The 10s seemed a bit muffled when i went back and forth between the two.
I don't have much experience using and comparing different speakers, sizes, etc. But this was very noticable. I really dug the 12. Although technically speaking, I'm not sure why.
I'm not curious how they will sound together. Anyone run these 2 together, and if so, what's your configuration? (opened, closed)

Glad you like it Eric. The Tubby is well broken in. I did the hard work for ya! Gotta love them Tubby's- Some people like the 10's, some a 12. The 10's should sound a little tighter, and the 12 a bit bigger and looser. Plus that is an AlNiCo Tubby, vs ceramic 10's. Should sound great together. I'd even try the 10's with the back closed and the 12 open. Try try try. Enjoy~
