Does anyone have an opinion(stupid question) whether two 2-10 cabs will be close or not in sound to one 4-10 cab, both semi-open-back? Both with Dr. Z 10" speakers, similar construction.
I be wondering.

I once a/b'd Z's 4x10 against the 2x10. The 2x10 has stronger low mids. I think it's beacuse the 4x10 has a more open back and also 4 speaker cabs have some cancellations that thin the mids out, at least to my ear.

From what you said, it sounds like two 2-10's might be a great setup, also allowing you to leave one home when not needed. (My back thanks you!)
Thanks, Texas Jim

- put 'em side by side,
- in front of you , in back for you - nice monitors
etc ...
..... bascially the only limitation is actual space available to you and how much cable you can run ;D

I hear the same cancellation that Billyguitar spoke of, the 4X10 is a little thinner in the mids. I think it has a little more chime as well, but a very strong low end as well. I'm using a 2X10 and a 1X12 cab stacked on top of each other with my Maz Sr. The 1X12 has a Cannabis Rex in it and I think it really compliments my stock Z 2X10 cab very well. It's a great combo, looks cool(hehe), and all you need is a Y cable out of the back of your amp and your done. Ya might look into that set up if you get a chance.
