I've got a 2-10 Z-28 combo, and I have a pair of Beam Blockers for 10" speakers. I've considered putting them in for a try, but I wonder if they're gonna affect the "Lens Technology" that Doc built into the cab with the double baffle board? I don't really have a problem with what I hear now, but I play behind my amp, and don't really get to hear what my audiance hears.
I'm just looking for input on whether I should leave alone what Doc built?

The Dr that tested my hearing last time told me to get back there too! Oh jeez, we're all going to have to trade in our Z's for those backward Fenders...

The stage we normally play on is so small, I don't have room for my "stack", my Z-28 with my acoustic guitar amp on top. I've just gotten used to hearing my guitar sound from the back of the open-backed cab, and when I play where I do have room, I still place the amp in front. My acoustic amp is also run thru the board and monitor system.
Like BW said, I'm sure the doctors would advise standing behind or even in a different room from your amp!

Texas Jim so it sounds like the stage is so small and shallow, it can only hold musicians and you all have to put the amps off stage in front of you? at any rate, openback cabs sound much darker from behind some call that "fuller" sounding. there's much less volume, too. if you are EQing/leveling it according to what you hear from the back, i'd imagine you are just blasting the audience with loud bright sound, no? Beam Blockers sure help to disperse the treble more evenly but it sounds nothing like an amp would from behind. what about facing the amp towards you? or put it perpendicular to your line of sight. then nobody's getting the direct hit from the front of your amp.

I sure thought the Beam Blocker would be the answer to my prayers, but it just din't sound 'right' to me for some reason. Maybe I oughta try 'er again. Or if one of y'all want it, let me know. Its for a 12.

What about turning the cab around?
I've seen Joe Satriani turn his cabs around so they face backwards. They're mic'd so it really doesn't matter if they face forward or not, except JS isn't getting hit with the blast.
