Hello, I have recently bought a Maz 38 and am now about to purchase a speaker cabinet. I am leaning toward an Avatar. Just cant beat their prices. My question is what speakers do I have put in it? I don't want the heavy rock sounding speakers. I play the blues and play Fender Strats and Telecasters. I am looking for the warm smooth sound of Robben Ford or Eric Clapton. It will likely be an open back cabinet and on the Avatar site they give you a list of quite a few different Celestion speakers to choose from that can be put in the Avatar cabinets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Avatars are great cabs for the money and they're well built. For the kind of music you're gonna be playing I'd suggest maybe a comination of a G12H30 and a Greenback. That would cover your style and a few other bases. Avatar also sells Eminence speakers as well. Or if they're selling empty cabs, get one and go with some Webers. My Avatar 2x12 is loaded with 1 G12H30 and 1 Weber Alnico Blue Dog 30 watt. Great sounding combo and it covers a lot of bases for me. Good Luck! Harold

Harold +1 on this combo - the G12-H30 and Weber alnico work great together and cover a lot of ground

I know Robben has a couple of old G12-65's in his Dumble cab.
