Hello, I am new to the board. Just bought a Carmen Ghia and am now looking for a cab. I saw one of these for sale locally and was wondering if anybody had any experience with them. You can get an empty 2x10 or 2x12 with cane grill for $138. I have 2 reverend alltone 10" speakers I could try in it. www.lopoline.com/home.htmlOr would it be worth the extra to get a z cab. I know on the 2x10 he uses spacers or lenses on the speaker and also tunes the cab. The CG sounds awesome through a 4X12 with greenback, but I want something I can carry! Thanks Bill

I have two of their 1x12's. One black\oxblood open back, one vanilla\cane closed back. I couldn't have built them myself for much less than I paid for these. They seem to be well built, front loaded cabs. No complaints here.
Edited to add that the Lopo vanilla tolex is slightly lighter than the blonde tolex that Dr. Z uses. I'ts pretty close but if you are looking for a "matched set" for a blonde Z you may find a better match from a different aftermarket cab company. I knew this before ordering mine so it wasn't a big deal.

too bad they do not offer more speaker options (only V30s at this time), but the cabs look to be of good quality and are priced very fairly. i also really like the convertible cabs for greater flexibility. ...and you can get 'em in tweed, which is also a very cool option.

Those are ridiculously cheap! The Z 2x10 cab is a very special cab to me. Sounds way better than a 1x12, once again to me. Strong low mids, good bottom, nice highs. I have beam blockers in mine and I couldn't be happier. 30 pounds, small and sounds great. I have no speaker GAS now. Z's 10s aren't available except in his cab or used. Guys that are really trying to keep the volume down could use a 1x10 Lopo cab with a Ghia.

I just got in a convertible 2x12 red tolex Lopoline cab last week & for the price, I couldnt be happier. Didnt have the money for a THD or a Dr z cab, but until that day, this cab will be perfect! Good folks to deal with - Tiffany at Lopoline is great with customers. One metal corner protector was dented slightly in transit and she had a replacement in my hands is just a few days, no charge.

I've been affraid to get back into a amp head because I don't like carrying my good old Ampeg 4X12 around. Something leaner that sounds great would get me out of the combo real fast thanks, Todd

Ted Weber sells the Beam Blockers at Weber VST. There are extensive threads about these here so if you're really curious you can do a forum search but here's the way it boils down. they are cheap. Not hard to install but don't over tighten the speaker screws. If the speaker is stuck to the baffle use a thin bladed putty knife to get the gasket to release. Overwhelmingly positive response. Only a few that weren't happy with them. They are very neutral in impact to your sound. Essentially what they do is send the sound out from your amp or cab in a more diffuse, less directional manner. They reduce that beaming problem of someone sitting inline with your speakers. I myself am a believer and prefer to use them. You can do a test yourself by hanging a circle of cardboard or something in front of the grille cloth on your amp. It's give you an idea but the BBs do it much better.

So, is plywood ok for guitar cabs? Will i notice a huge difference between a plywood cab, and a hardwood cab?

As long as the plywood is good quality, voidless hardwood, it sounds fine. Better or worse? I don't know, its a little different. I find solid untolexed hardwoods slightly brighter.

So, is plywood ok for guitar cabs? Will i notice a huge difference between a plywood cab, and a hardwood cab? Hi Stato, Marine grade ply wood work well, like the previous post though, it must be voidless (is that an oxymoron??). If its cheap ply it will rattle on you. Todd
