Im thinking about ordering some weber speakers (ceramic silver bell, ceramic blue dog) and I want to get a high quality open back cab, empty. I saw some on the weber website, but then i saw that they were plywood and that they no longer made hardwood cabs. Is it important to get hardwood, and who sells them?

That quote's been in their FAQ's for sometime. I'd still give them a call because occasionally the do sell them empty.

I have a JDesign 112 Vintage cab on the way. I did a lot of asking around and research before purchasing this cab. All the feedback I received came back positive.

I just ordered two new hardwood cabs a 1 X 12 and 2 X 12 V front from Bob Burt at bobburtcabinets.com to match up with some new amps I just got. His quality is outstanding and prices are very reasonable.

Trutone is another option. They do all their cabs in pine. When I get a cab for my SRZ it'll be from them.

mudskipper, jdesigncabs has a very broad selection of speaker options (celestion, weber, eminence, and jensen). the avatar cabs are very good also, but speaker selection is limited to eminence or celestion. if you want anything else then you have to buy an empty cab and put the speakers in yourself. i did, however, learn that avatar will do cabs in tweed (they just don't advertise it). do you know if jdesigncabs will do a tweed cab upon request?

I just got in a very nice 'convertible' back 2x12 cab from Lopoline. You can buy from their web site - they also list them on Ebay. Tiffany takes _very_ good care of customers. Highly recommend them. And the red tolex cab matches perfectly! Very good prices for empty cabs too

Avatar sells unloaded cabs via ebay only. Were several listed tonight - but a couple auctions ended. Won't sell unloaded directly, but they are available pretty regularly on the 'bay.
