I'm getting a silverface twin but it needs TLC. It has Pyle speakers in it so I thought I may start with new speakers and tubes for it. It is a 100 watt master volume version so I need speakers that can handle the power but still sound good. I put Vintage 30s in my Hot Rod Deville and liked it. They are 60 watts so two could handle 120 watts. Is there something else I should check out, Webers?

If you are looking for a bot of an old school sound get a pair of Weber 12F150 (ceramic) 50 watters. there is a sound clip of Jayson Chance playing them. Alternatively you could go for a pair of Eminence Red,White and Blues which have got more bottom end or some Texas Heats for that S.R.V type tone.

You can't go wrong with a pair of D120 JBL's....If you can find 'em....I have a SF Twin WIth the D120's....OMG........You want Ted Nugent??...Eric Johnson (clean)??..Loud and Proud my brutha...Ask Groover George what they sound like recorded.....If you can't find the JBL's..I would recommend either V30's or G12H's... I know...I'm gonna get slammed for this...But, I have tried both in my SF Twin....and they SMOKE.......IMHO.... ;D ;D However....JBL D120's is where it's at.............. T rock...

If you want killer clean with lots of headroom in your twin then trockcity55 is right on the money, I can vouch for him there. If you can't find the JBL's anywhere www.tedweber.com makes something similar called a Weber Californian which apparently has a similar tonal characteristic.

The Webers would be a great choice. This is not an amp for distortion so you want a good 'hifi' speaker. Email Ted Weber for a recommendation. Back in that time period i bought a new Dual Showman Reverb with Gauss 15s. It also had the master volume. Believe it or not but I used an Electro Harmonix LPB-1 as a boost into the preamp and really had a good overdriven Fender tone at reasonable volume.

I couldn't agree more with trockcity55! I have a silverface twin like you are describing, and I'm lucky enough to have got it with the d-120 JBL's...and for $350. haha!! Anyhow, I suggest those jbl's I just saw some go on ebay the other day...but that was for a pretty penny!!! I think the buy it now was around $320......ouch.

I have a 1965 twin reverb and it sounds great with a pair of eminence legend 125 (1258 on the website?). Great clean tones for blues/jazz/rock/country etc... I get the sound of the amp rather than the sound of the speaker. I've heard good things about JBL's for twins too, though I never tried them.

A Twin with JBLs was Buck Owens favorite way to play records!
