On the site, it says "Look for a 12 inch design in the near future"...I'm looking to replace the speaker in my Maz Jr and thought a Z12 would be perfect, but can't seem to find any info on them ever being made.
What would be another good choice? 30W Blue Dog?
Thanks! Jason

Why aren't they made anymore? OR...why don't they have Z's name on them?

Not speaking directly for Mike Z or Ted W, but I can speculate that the cost factor of the Webers is an issue. Dr. Z is commited to making his amps affordable to the serious musician, and the Webers cost significantly more than than something like a Vintage 30 or G12H30. So I think Z found speakers that he liked and thought it would be best to use the Celestions to pass the savings down. The Webers essentially cost twice as much as the "stock type" Celestions. So, if ya want that sound, the alnico Silver Bells are the ticket. Dr. Z has made comments on this very forum that he always loved those speakers.

It might be a supply issue, too. It is probably easier to get a given quantity of a mass produced speakers at one time.

I have the P12Z's 30 watt from an early Z Best. They sound very "round". I lot of bass, a lot of treble. I am finding all sorts of rattles when I play at any gig volumes at my house.
Does any one know how these came doped when they were stock?
I doesn't look like mine are doped at all. Should I have them lightly doped?
Thanks

Update! Just got an e-mail from Ted.. Apparently there's a little more to it than just a standard Silver Bell. Yes, the 30 watt alnico Silver is the platform for the P12Z. But there's some special ingredients involved to get them to Z's specs. Ted asks, out of courtesy (since he and Mike Z are buddies), that anyone interesting in getting Silver Bells to Z specs get the clearance from Dr. Z first. Some proprietary stuff involved there. My guess would be, and I'm not speaking for the doc or for Ted, would be that the speakers should be intended for a Z amp and not someone else's. Just the principal of the thing... J
