I'm not sure if this has been covered before but as per the title above, has the good Doc or maybe some of the members here who are skilled with the soldering iron ever tried putting one on a Ghia?

IIRC Dr. Z's mentioned not caring for PPIMVs with some of his cathode bias designs (pls correct me if I'm wrong!). That said, the cathode bias Monza sounds (and feels) amazing with a PPIMV.
Also check out the VVT MV mod. One of our brethren installed the VVT on his Route 66 (fixed bias) with great results.
When I had a CG, it sounded great with a Z attenuator as well as a Swart Night Light. Totally housebroken.

Second Ted's thoughts on the two attenuators. I have both as well. The brake light is great for knocking off a few db's for band practice/gigs, the night light is great for at home quiet playing. The last two settings on it are quiet, and baby sleeping in the next room quiet. I'm a bit of an attenuator nut, though. Three of them for only two amps.

Thanks for your replies. I''m saving up now for the new version of the Remedy but I'm thinking I could trade some of my pedals with a Ghia on the used market here if it comes up again. I have to think about it well now as I'm not a big fan of attenuators.

If the 18 watt Ghia is already too loud...I would question the idea if getting a Remedy. I know they come with master volumes now, but I still wonder.

I had a MV Remedy for a while; used it for my regular headlining gig at Madison Square Bedroom Using the Rem at home all depends on your speaker. I preferred a dark, inefficient speaker like a Greenback since IMO the amp brightens up when the MV is below 12:00 or so. I ran the Rem through my Ghia 1x10 (Greenback as well) and that was actually really nice at home. The 12" is almost too much even throttled down.

Doc just did a 25th Anniversary Ghia (very limited edition) that had a PPIMV on it. Doubtful that he'd start adding them to the "standard" Ghia's, though, because that's a lot of work (a lot of Ghia's out there) and--quite frankly--the Brake Lite works very well in bringing down the Ghia's volume. If you have a Ghia but not a Brake Lite, you should really think about it.

The PPMV sounded awesome on the 25th Anniversary Ghia's.
