Just ordered a weber blue and silver both alnico off the bay. Was wondering if I should trade out the celestions in there now for the webers or leave celestions in there and get a open back for the webers. Or would installing the webers over the g12h and g12m be a improvement? Just read people on here say alnicos dont breathe in a closed back.

I've read the same thing you have. I'd get an open-back for them, but then I'm an open-back type of guy... Keep the closed back/Cellys for the harder stuff, and the Blue/Silver open back for more vintagey type tones. Get a cabbone or something. Sounds like the perfect setup.

Or would installing the webers over the g12h and g12m be a improvement? Just read people on here say alnicos dont breathe in a closed back. Try swapping out the Celestions for both webers in there 1st... can't hurt to try and then go from there... In my Z-best, I have used a 50 watt alnico silverbell with the G12-H30 which was really nice and now have two 30 watt Alnico Bluedogs... the two alnico bluedogs in there sound incredible to me... thought it would lower the cabs volume and make the cab give it up earlier... kinda did but it's still a really loud cab. to me it really firms up/ tightens the alnico's low end... another cool option if you like one of the alnico's in the Z-best is to use either one, the Blue or silver with the G12-H30 for a ceramic alnico blend in the Z-best... then for a lower volume cab use the other Blue or Silver that you didn't use in the Z-best... in a 1x12 open back/ or slot port cab. Just a thought? But I'd definitely try them in there 1st and see how you like em... before you buy another cab... I like alnicos in my Z-best but I also like the stock speakers... so you 've really got a lot of options. good luck, have fun and let us know what you try, and what you think, and end up finally doing. I have a Z Best with a Weber Blue and Silver. I prefer them over the Celestions. The cabinet has the port along the side for the alinco's to get enough movement.

I use mostly single 12 open backs and if I need more air pushin then I use two of em. I also have a 3/4 closed back 2x12 THD cab with Cele Blues and it sounds amazing. I would love to try a Z Best like Jgleaton suggested and will some day.

I use Z best open back cab with 2x12 Celestion Blues with my StingRay,sounds magical. I would love to try Celestion Gold, should be able to handle Stingray,RxEs,SRZ 65 without any concerns. Z best 2x12 close back cab with stocked speakers sounds amazing too with any amps I have used other than StingRay.Ray just sounds better with Cele Blues to my ears. Now,Ray and Cele Gold would be a different story.

Should I put the silver or blue on top/bottom?

Should I put the silver or blue on top/bottom? Most folks put the Silver on the bottom and Blue on top. Silver gives more bass and Blue more highs so I guess the logic is you may prefer to hear more of the highs.
