No supreme expert on extension cabs, but would like to experiment a bit with my Maz 18 1x12. I mic it up at bigger gigs, but would like a little more meat on stage - the little junior has the nuts, Airbrake and all, to handle more magnet and paper - but why is the extension out 4 ohms? Not easy to find 4 ohm guitar speakers - not sure Z even has one ?? Should I series/parallel two 8's (the combo and extension) from the 8 ohm out? I am actually looking for more bottom and a little more "bell" tone. What about a 1x12 bass cab at 4 ?
Thanks in advance - appreciate it -
My tone evolution: Fender - Fender - Line6 - Crate- Mesa - Fender - DR Z - tone nirvana!

I assume your speaker in the combo is 8 ohm... Just use another 8 ohm cab and a small "Y" (speaker) cable plugging both speakers in to each of the pig-tails, then the single end into the 4 ohm input hole in the amp. Two 8's in parallel like I've described, equal a total of a 4 ohm load. Mark

That is the 4 ohm output of the amp. Using both jacks at the same time would be bad. You'll probably want either a Y cord or a cab with parallel jacks.

Thanks to all.....I solved the prob with a y cable all wired up just for that purpose...into 4 ohm...out to 8ohm combo spkr and 8 ohm ext cab - just not used to these cool boutique amps...added an old crate bottom with a single 15 - aged to perfection..nice!
rock on! r

I've been wondering about this same issue. I have a 2x10 Z28 (8ohm total load) and recently picked up a matching 2x10 cab (8 ohm). I need the two sets of speakers to be wired in parallel to give a 4 ohm load, and there is a 4 ohm output on the Z28 amp. So far so good, the 4x10 is almost there, without the back-breaking weight. But how to achieve that wiring configuration? Where to get a speaker Y-cable which achieves a parallel set up? No luck searching the web so far. I looked at the SpeakerMate website, but their products seemed to be much too complicated for my pretty simple needs. Thanks for any suggestions. DaveP, Houston

Todd at pcns (pro cables n sound) sells a highquality "Y" cable assembled in parallel but sounds like you already have one and assume it's wired parallel into the male
