Even though the Rem is a great amp--and I love the MV/EQ mods--I'm seriously considering putting mine up on BST, along with a 1x12 Z-cab with Creamback. I'm thinking the Z-28 is just more down the middle of where I'm at these days in terms of guitar playing/tone--it's just about the perfect amp for me right now, and handles Strats, Teles, humbuckers and P90s exactly as I want to hear them. Plus, it looks like we won't be playing any bigger venues this summer as I'd hoped--those events have already been booked without us--so I probably won't have a need for the Rem's big, full-power output any time soon. Really it's a me thing--it's a great amp, I just haven't entirely bonded with it, and I think I'm spoiled by the '28's ability to sound great no matter what guitar or pedals or speaker you throw at it.
If I do sell the Rem, the question will be, "then what?" I could wait for the mini-Ghia, which is definitely on my short list of amps to own, or I could finally get the Route 66 I've wanted for five or six years and could never justify, just to have it. Or--what? Branch out a bit into other amp makers? Buy another guitar (the wife says ten's the limit, so something would have to go)? Hookers 'n blow? Go crazy and spend the money on groceries? What about a Stangray for Tele blues? Or save up for a Z-Wreck? I'm open to any and all suggestions at this point.

I'm lovin' the AntiDote of all the 7, Z. amps I've had. IMHO it is good for everything. Clean Headroom is a Roland Jazz chorus. but that is not where I'm at. Think before you sell the Rem, if I did not have a Dote the Remedy would be it for me.

Don't sell the Remedy . You will regret it. I sold my first remedy. It wasn't by choice it was something I had to do at the time. I was using a Marshall 2061X and this kid at my church came up to me and said that other amp you used to have sounded way better. Once I got back on my feet I ended up finidng my second remedy used at Guitar Center and new that no matter what i will always have a remedy I of course trade that one to my friend and now have a new Remedy and love the MV and the tone bypass it has made the remedy
the perfect gigging amp heck you really dom't even need pedals.

If you HAVE to have another amp, assuming you sell the Rem, then get another Z28 and start experimenting with stereo setups -and you'll have the perfect backup amp too Although that may sound flippant, there's a real point to it .... you spend money and time trying to fill an audio gap which just doesn't exist for you: the Z28 does everything you want so why try to fix something which ain't broke?

You seem satisfied with the Z-28....so why not use just the Z-28? You can sell the Remedy, keep the cash handy for the lunch box Ghia when it comes out. Your Z-28 is a head, and the lunch box will be a head, so you're always accustomed to bringing a cabinet...it will just be a matter of 'which head do I bring'.
Why buy an Antidote? It's as loud as the Remedy. My experience with the Route 66 is that it's pretty loud too. And if you're happy with the Z-28, why get a Route 66? They're VERY much in the same ball park.

Jon, If you want to try some different Z flavors, try out a Galaxie, EZG-50, and/or 6545/KT-45/SRZ. All loud, but can be Braked; Gal did have MV available. The Antidote differs from the Rem, but I'd say those two amps are close sonically, as would be expected since Dr Z had various Marshalls in mind when he designed them, whereas those I listed above have different DNA. So does the Z Wreck

I wonder how the ten-guitar limit interacts with this particular spending option.

Here's how all over the place I am--I plugged a Strat into the Rem this a.m., figuring I'd confirm (or not) my intention to sell/swap it. Man, did it sound good! (MV 10:00, B/M 1:00, T 10:00, HV 12:00, NV 10:00, full power, no BL, EQ bypass off, with a variety of OD pedals and a touch of delay, if it matters). I think you do get a bit of tone degredation with the MV much below 10:00, but anywhere from 10:00 up and it's big and bold, just the way you want it--but still not intolerably loud. Okay--you're right. Keeping it!

I agree the strat with the dls and some delay is off the chain through the remedy. Clear fat warm lead tone.
