I like the way mine sounds with a G12H30. Since the Route is so strong in the mids, a speaker that is scooped a bit in the mids might be worth considering. A Celestion Gold would be worth a look as well. How you are going to use the amp could be important too. Playing out with it or primarily using it at home.

I orginally bought the Z Best cabinet w/ the stock Z speakers (GH12 and vintage 30)and loved it for many years until my back went out, so I had to sell the cabinet, just too damn heavy. I was hipped to Mathers Cabinets out of Nashville from my friend and DrZ user RoscoeNYC. Peter Mathers is a great guyand earer to please. just go to mathercab.com/ and check out his work. I ended up getting Elliptical Port Cabinet 1x12 with a Celestion Gold. It was the best move I made. It works VERY well with the Rt66 (my favorite Z amp to date) It's worth the $$ to get the Gold, trust me! The cabinet only weights 25lbs so my back in nice and happy. Check it out!

Good advice - took the words out of my mouth. The Gold has tons of high frequency detail and the G12H30 has (relatively) scooped mids with a strong bass and highs. All of which will be helpful with this dark-ish (but beautiful) amp.
