This just came to me on a whim. I realize it might be apples to oranges but I have been wondering... everybody compares the antidote to the remedy and the rt 66. That seems to be the obvious comparisons. In my write ups I've compared it to the EZG and z wreck because I have more experience with them.( I did own a remedy for a very short while. ) I think they all share similarities but at the same time are completely different. Blah blah blah.. Anyway back to the point.
Forget volume, headroom, wattage, all that..
The antidote is supposed to be in the bassman/jtm area.
I've read in a couple of places that the Z28 is in the deluxe-ish/Marshall-ish realm.
Would it be worth a discussion?? Seems like it would to me, but I would like opinions from you guys who have both.
I'm only asking bc I am interested in a Z28 and I played one once about 3 years ago for 10 minutes, in a guitar center with screaming kids who's parents let them beat on drums. So I didn't get to really try it out. Also know I've never played a rt66 or heard one in person.

^^^ Funny you should ask Danny (dannydny) and a buddy of his came over last night to listen to the Antidote and the Remedy. (I didn't have them set for a/b listening, this was sequential.) After we concluded, Danny asked about the Z-28. I brought it out and we had a splendid time with it. My impression, which I'd want to confirm with a proper a/b, is that the Z-28's tweedy side is quite distinctive compared with the Marshally Rem and Anti. We did run the 3-3-3 setting, which sounds great but to my ears didn't have the girth of the other two. (We used a Brake Lite, so we didn't have a noticeable volume discrepancy.) But we all were really impressed with the Z-28. If Danny sees this post, he can chime in. Oh, I should mention everything ran into a Z Best. Everything sounded good through the Z Best

I always think of the Route 66 as the Z28's big brother (EF86 front and and Tone stack in common - just different power tubes), and I imagine the Route 66 would match the Antidote for volume, being much the same wattage. That being said, the Z28 is a VERY special amp all of itself - Fender-ish with controls below noon; Marshall-ish with them above; but in truth, it has its own voice, and a beautiful voice it is too Others will no doubt have more detail and experience around these amps, but my Z28 is going nowhere!
