Hi All, I just replaced the Celestion G12H 30watt with a Ceramic 8 ohm Weber 1230-55. I am also using a beam blocker. The weber is far more balanced, not excessive lows or highs, very smooth, and dynamic. Perhaps this speaker reveals more of the fender ingredient in Doc's amp design. My verb-senior is from 01 and was sent back to the good doctor for a check up. It came back sounding even better! I replaced the reverb tank with a short tank as well. I find the reverb is far more responsive with the Weber. This is my first impression by pluging my 75 LP with Fralins and my 52 RI tele, with Bill Lawrence pups, directly in with no pedals. So far, I hear much more balanced tone with no ghost notes I will be gigging with the amp this weekend and I will give you an update. Thanks! Rick

I was thinking about swapping at least one of my G12H30s with a 1230, but I was thinking about using an alnico magnet, because I find the Celestions a little harsh, particularly on the high end.

Hey Skydog, What I have found so far: The Celestion G12H seems to have a resident frequency somewhere between 55-100Hz. IMO that frequency dominates the tone of the G12H. The Weber doesn't have any one frequency dominating. The tone from the Weber is far more transparent that the celestion. Whether I am using a tele, strat, LP,335, 135,etc., the guitar still maintains its true identity and personal tone. I really like how a G12H sounds and really love what the Weber 1230-55 is doing. I haven't compared the Ceramic to the Alnico. I am very happy with the ceramic Weber 1230-55. Please let me know how the Alnico sounds to you. IMO my Senior sounds better now. All the best to you! Rick
