OK, UPS just delivered the Red Remedy back from Doc-Z. Had the Mods for EQ-bypass and MV done. The box contained: 1. I requested (and received) my old-style face plate back as a trophy to hang on the wall. 2. An old tube from which they replaced? Maybe a PI? 3. Footswitch for EQ bypass toggle and plug in back panel. I unwrapped it, plugged into my 1x12 Creamback Z cab. (TELE - cable - Remedy@Full-Power) There's a pic of this amp floating around posted by Juan. That's where the amp was set to from Z-test bench. I left the knobbies right there (pretty much 12 o'clock high) and I suggest y'all to start with whatever they left the amp setup at when testing. MY GOD!!! The EQ bypass: I don't know if I can ever turn it off! It's REALLY good. The MV: works like a charm, all the way to almost bedroom volumes. It's hard to say how it really is at lower volume right now because I started out at a pretty good clip!. I will start next time with minimal volume and work up! Sorry, terrible review. But, other than losing the mortar & pestle graphic HA! I can't think of a reason to not to this. Can't wait to hear feedback from the rest of y'all soon! ROCK ON!!! !!!Thank You Z!!! added image: i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii608/Ric9plus/myrem.jpg?t=1365202030

Thanks Nigel for the review. Have you tried it with the master volume all the way up taking it out of the circuit making the amp back to stock? Just curious to know If there are any changes.
I love the Remedy the way it is and would mainly only use the master volume mostly at home.

Great review. My Remedy was #2 on the list so I hope to have it back soon as well! Can't wait to hear it.

The MV is awesome. Maxed out returns you to the ear-bleed glory of Remedy past. :-) What i like is the MV span is smooth from min to max. I played the amp later starting at lower volumes & I am VERY pleased indeed. Now, I'm a rock & roller so louder is better always. But I don't recall the Remedy sounding this good when it left home. Also, I can't image using the low power 20w setting now either. But, time will tell & I'm sure my OCD brain will want to try. These are great mods, the Doc knows his stuff, period. The EQ bypass reminds me of my old 50s era amps where not only do you have no burden of EQ knobs, the tone is just "dialed in". And you just play. Simple. This amp is so dialed in that all knobs at noon, perfect! Now that's cool! We've got a bunch of gigs in May. Can't wait to take this to the party!

I was getting the play by play as Rick was testing his modded Remedy out. He was freakin' about how good it sounded!!!
I'm #3 and just shipped mine in this week. Sounds like money well spent.

Oh man, I'm gettin' the itch. Don't scratch it until you played the Antidote! Will do, but the Remedy is the one amp I seriously regret selling.

You'll just have to make a trip to see parents - you can try the two amps side-by-side (minus the remedy mods).

Played the new Remedy again yesterday for about 1/2 hour. MV on about 9 & 10 o'clock. Hi vol 1, Norm vol about noon. All else at noon. I like what I'm hearing A LOT! I think there's good, sparkle, grind, etc. at low volume levels. the amp responds well to guitar vol. pick attack, etc. is it as great as the amp blasting full-tilt. Don't think that's possible in any situation with any amp. But I am glad Doc developed this because, for me, i never liked using the Airbrake. probably im lazy and dont like hauling it around. The Remedy can go anywhere now.
I am liking the EQ bypass which is quite useful.. Like others have noted it adds a nice amount of gain and vol. boost. It could be easy to loose some pedals off the board now!!!
NOTE: I like amps with and without MV.

I'm #6, so mine will ship out to Cleveland on Friday. Very exciting. I've been looking forward to gigging the Rem--once the mods are done I'll pretty much have to. Right?

Played on the Remedy some again today. I was getting some great clean/dirty threshold tones like Black Crowes & Red Hot Chili Peppers, and even some chicken pickin' then kick in the EQ bypass & BAM! Solo boost time! I have yet the urge to play anything except the telecaster straight into the Remedy although I'm sure it will play nice with my pedals.

Here she is back from the shop. Thanks to all at Dr. Z's ! This mod is pretty sweet. More to follow as I have only had about 5 minutes on the amp since it's early evening arrival today.

I received my Remedy back today as well. I was #2 on the list. I had 30 min or so to play it. It is pretty good. What I like is that you really can keep the volume down and still get the dirt. I ran it thought a Z 1x12 with an 8 ohm Creamback. The Remedy before was way too loud for me. What I like best is that the EQ bypass doesn't give you as much of a volume bump as it does on my MAZ18. I always thought the MAZ was too much but the Remedy seems just right.
I see you guys in the pics have the new style back cover over your tubes. They didn't change mine. Kinda bummed about that.

Bryan thanks for posting this I never liked the eq bypass on the maz 18 jr nr for that exact reason. I am so glad to hear its a smoother transistion on the remedy. I almost didn't get the newer version but now I am gald I have one on order. I can only imagine how awesome it sounds through the creamback. Still no news on when the new ones are shipping to Humbucker. At least the doc is taking care of his loyal remedy users thats pretty impressive. He is banging them out pretty fast! Congrats guys Im happy for you all. The greatest amp on the planet just got better!

Hey guys! I was totally wrong about Z-repairs swapping the back cover tolex panel. My Remedy was always the newer style. I own too many Z's all the others had the screen. Sorry for the error & confusion I caused. -Rick

The master volume is really a big plus for me. Digging the MV at 10:00 to 12:00 and cranking the preamp volumes. Even put the Gold back in my cab and it's sounding sweet. Brighter and chimier than the Creamback but still handles distortion very well. Also was happy with the WGS ET-65 and the 30 watt Weber Legacy. I'd be happy using any of those 4 speakers.
The amp is much more flexible for me with the MV. Glad I had the mods done.
Thanks Dr Z, Don and the crew back at the mothership!

Gigged with my Remedy and a 1-12 Gold in an Avatar Vintage cabinet last night. Big hotel ballroom with 300 people and can I just say WOW! I am real pleased with the master on the Remedy but the EQ bypass is fantastic on this amp. I haven't really cared for or used it on my Maz Jr but the Remedy mod is perfect for live playing. A great lead boost with some nazz but not overly middy like the Maz Jr. Way to go Doc, you nailed this one. The Remedy jumped up above my Maz Jr for playing live. Looking forward to some outdoor festival gigs this summer when I can pair it with my 2-12 closed back.

Yep, me too - this week hopefully Just booked a gig for mid June to play at the Joint Forces Defence Academy (I probably shouldn't be talking about it, but what the hey!), and visited the HUGE site yesterday. WOW! What a place! We got a behind-the-scenes guided tour - crikey, those military types have some serious hardware when seen close up. Gulp! The gig is for the charity, Help for Heroes, 500 peeps in a BEAUTIFUL old mess hall - perfect spot! Lots of think carpet and drapes; low ceiling and pretty dead acoustics - perfect for a live rock band They've also put us forward for their Academy Summer Ball in August - outdoors, 2,000 peeps I say all this because I just KNOW my Remedy sucking in the tone from my P90 LP Special, is going to be PERFECT, just PERFECT
