That's a sweet deal! I've been tempted by that amp since I first heard about it. Congrats!

I really love mine - you might want to consider the MV mod - makes it more useable at home . Still loud though!

In my opinion, it's one of Z's best creations.

I have a pair of Maz 38s and a Mesa DC-3 combo and the GT may be just one of those noble experiments... The one I had before I insisted on running through Z Best or Mesa 2x12s, but I'm hoping that a 1x12 will tame this a tad. I play smaller places, and before whenever I even cracked the volume to audibility I was nearly redlining acceptible stage volume. But I WOULD like an amp that will get me Paul Kossoff with a little boost or a simple OD and not destroy the room.

The MV mod by Doc works wonders

The MV mod by Doc works wonders I'm going to try a baffle first (the small amp version is about $100.00) because I have a couple Maz 38s and a Mesa that it would cross to if it works... MV mod isn't crazy pricey from what I understand, but the others have masters on them and if I can wangle a way to make this work the way it's supposed to it'll sound great. MVs are always a little bit of a compromise, especially with a brute like the GT...

I paid $150 plus return shipping - makes the amp definitely more useable. I might be taking it out for Todd/Steve/Wayne to play with this weekend. You can get their take on it. But I know they'll love it!

I bought a Clearsonic shield to put in fromt of my cabinet as an alternative to a an Airbrake. We'll see how that works out. I made some plexi shields for my speakers cabs a few years ago. I think they ended up costing about $15 each from stuff at Home Depot. I use them all the time. When I was gigging (hope to be again soon...), they really made a difference. I used to be told to turn down w/ my MAZ Jr. and RXJr. heads all the time. After making the plexi shields, I could crank my SRZ, Galaxie, and/or Mazeratti GT w/out impacting FOH in a negative way. The sound guys really loved them. The sheilds really allowed me to get the power tubes sweatin' for great sustain and tone. The stage volume was still high, but it was kept behind us, so it really didn't bother anyone. And I never had a problem hearing myself... I highly recommend them.

I also know a black one I can grab. After I get the Red and inspect it, I'll be happy let you have it if your interested in a red one and I'll grab the black. I got the red for a good price, so depending where you live if your in the US...probably be about $1000 shipped (im not looking to make a penny). Heres a pic of it

Thanks Stu, but I'm in Eastern Canada so having to pay taxes at the border, etc, adds about $150 to $200 to the price (not including additional shipping). As well, wouldn't be interested in the red/black combination.
Thanks for the offer though. Much appreciated.

The acrylic panel hold up much better than plexi. Using these on my rig enabled me to crank up the Z's and get them singing and keep the volume down such that the stage mic's weren't picking up the guitar amps and screwing up the who mix and keeping the whole band volume down to very reasonable levels. Still needed the break however but not so much as to choke out the goodies. Highly recommended.... I snapped this pic after our last gig.

Arrived yesterday with generic Chinese glass in V1 an V2, GTs in the power section, and a Sovtek recto. I know the Doc has built aroung some Sovtek stuff beofre and prolly currently (this has a 15th anniversary badge), but I HATE 'em! Put a Fisher labeled Telefunken in V1 and JJs everywhere else. so far so good, and this isn't as vicious as the first one I had.

Much later: Sold the Mesa DC3, waaaaay too phony sounding. Right now the GT through a Creamback loaded Z 1x12 is crazy good sounding.
