I've been trying different combinations of 12"s since getting my Z Wreck head and two 1-12 Z cabs. I had a Gold in one and Tubby in the other for a while. Sounded great. Then I got a Creamback and swapped out the Gold. The Creamback sounded great with my Remedy....good with my Z28....but not so great to my ears with the Z Wreck. To much sizzle going on. I swapped out the Creamback with a second Red Tubby I had in the speaker closet. Man...I had been wanting to try these two speakers with the Z Wreck since I had my first, original silver Z Wreck set and man I'm glad I did! The Wreck has more silvery sparkle than any amp I've ever played. Sometime even too much....the Tubby's smooth it out nicely. Still plenty of sparkle, but so smooth and thick... Just my observation for today. The two AlNiCo Tubby's are staying for a while. May try the Hemp Bomb combo later.......then back to 2 Gold's!!

I tried a Creamback with my Z Wreck last week. Sounded pretty good I thought. I was thinking since the Greenback is the standard speaker doc choose for the M12 and the M12 is supposed to be like a mini-wreck, then the Creamback should be the same. Anyone else try the Greenback or Creamback with your Z Wreck? Did you like it?

Thanks for the GAS, Mark! Anytime Lee....glad I could help! Yeah, I think the 'Wreck's true colors are revealed with AlNiCo's. I'm sure you have one stashed somewhere out in the barn, don't you? Better yet...make that two-

Man I am really REALLY digging these 2 Tubbys with the 'Wreck. My Collings I35LC w/Imperials sounds fantastic through this rig. The only negative I can find with the Z Wreck is a sort of fizzy highend ( for lack of other descriptive adjective )when humbuckers are in use and guitar tone rolled back. The Tubby's remedy this phenomena.
While the Z Wreck cab gives the true voice of this amp, I really love this recipe as well.

Hi Mark,
I was a little skeptical about dishing out the money to buy a Red Tone Tubby, but I finally got one. I just replaced the C Blue in my Silver Cab with it and I am really impressed. Its a good match with the C Gold. I mean the tone is there. I'm loving it. I've heard people say that it's darker sounding than the gold. It may be a little darker, but I can' tell it paired with the gold. It just sounds great. Thanks for the suggestion.

I always wanted to do that with my original Z Wreck set, but never changed the original configuration. The Gold and TT sound more similar than a lot of folk would want to admit. Lovin' my Tubby's~

I've got an old Marshal cabinet that I'm digging out of storage in a few weeks. I'm gonna plug the Wreck into that and see what tone is living there. All the speaker experimentation is very compelling but I'm not touching my original cabinet. Might have to build a 2nd with some of your recommendations.
