Well, I got my M12 from Humbucker (great folks down there). This thing is super cool, but I don't know that it's quite right for me. I'd love to keep the M12 since it really does sound great, but I just can't afford to keep it AND buy another Z right now.
I bought the M12 thinking it would be loud enough for what we do. It's close... like right on the edge, but I don't don't know if she'll keep up volume wise. I really like the sound of it too, though I'm not sure it's THE sound for me. I honestly think the amp I've been searching for all this time is a KT45.
The M12 is everything folks have said it was. Clean, versatile, inhales any pedal you throw at it. Love the hi/lo input switch (wish all Z's came with that feature).
I don't know. I'll play with the M12 a bit more, but I'm thinking I'm gonna need to make a move to a KT45.

Hey! Here's my advice: I felt the exact same as you when I first got my first M12. It was a 1x12 combo. I liked the tone very much, 9/10 but not perfect. On top of that it was a little shy on volume with the combo. I returned it and made the jump for a M12 head and Z-Best 2x12 cab. Now I like everything about it. Tone: 10/10 Volume: 10/10. It might be your answer too. Just thought I'd try and help you from my personal experience. I'm so glad now I didn't ditch the M12.

Thanks for the input bro. I don't want dump it prematurely. Just wanna get THAT tone outta my head and into the right amp
I'm kinda thinkin that the KT45 might be a good compliment to my Remedy, both tone and volume wise.
Hmmm... What to do...

I have to chime in and support what Abandoned said about cabs/speakers with the M12. I started out with the stock 1x12 combo and Greenback myself. Broke in the speaker with a variac for 24 hours just to make sure I was hearing everything at its best. But, I there was something about the mids I just didn't care for. So, I started plugging in my other cabs, almost all loaded with different speakers. I came to the conclusion that I just didn't like the M12 as much with Celestion speakers. The only exception was my Germino 4x12 EC Collins pinstripe cab with Scumback M75 PVCs...the 20W paper voice coil former replicas of the 60s G12M Greenbacks. That cab/speakers were just INSANE with the M12...one of the best tones I've ever heard anywhere, any time. Next up was my Forte 3D112 cab with WGS Blackhawk HP alnico. Absolutely killer. The BH-HP also added a little increase in SPL, as expected, given the sensitivity rating difference vs. the G12M. In third place was a Glaswerks 1x12 Thiele with EVM-12L Classic. So, I bought a WGS BH-HP for my combo and THAT resulted in the best 1x12 combo tone I've ever heard. But, next to the Forte 3D112 with the exact same speaker, I preferred the thump and spread of the Forte and the lack of dependence on a back wall. SO....I ended up throwing my M12 in a head shell and could not be happier. This is now my go-to rig. (Also running my Bass closer to 10:30 now too.)

Yeah, I pulled my M12 outta the combo cab (green back) and run it as a head thru a 1 x 12 Z cab.... Really opened up the M12. I gig the M12 sitting atop a Z-wreck head, atop a Z 1 x 12 cab with a Celestion G12H30.....I use which ever head fits the venue, and have the other one there as a backup..... Here's the rig before I pulled the M12 chassis outta the combo cab and installed it in a head cab......

Thanks for the guidance everyone!
In tinkering with the M12 I found a load of crazy good sounds. This thing is super versatile! I heard things out of my pedals and my guitars that I never hear before. Some good, some not so good. A real eye opener for sure! It's a sound I've never had in an amp before. In a very good way of course.
That said, I finally had the chance to play full-band and it sorta kept up, but there were a couple times it fell behind. While I love the tones she kicks out, it's still not THE tone I've got in my head. It's probably loud enough most of the time, but not quite loud enough at other times. I could always mic it, and so on.
I finally got to hear a KT45 in person, and there it was! THAT TONE that I've been chasing since I've been playing guitar. I've wanted to hear a KT45 for so long, but just never had access to one. Man, that thing is gorgeous!
Honestly, I want so badly to keep the M12 AND get the KT45, but I just can't swing it right now. So, I'm sending the M12 back to Humbucker and they're gonna order a KT45 for me.
I'm so glad I tried the M12. After I receive my KT45, I hope to be able to get another M12 and replace my Maz 38 that I still miss.
Thanks to everyone here who's helped me so much in finding MY tone.

I bet the KT45 rocks. I'd love to spend a week off with the entire Z lineup! Congrats.
