Curious about these, too. Might have to just try one.

I had a power tube and rectifier tube failure over two years ago at a gig in my gigging Z-28. I re-tubed when I got home with JJ Power Tubes, a NOS rectifier and Sovtec preamp tubes as I was afraid I'd burn another hour playing with tubes, which tends to happen with me quite a bit. Figured I'd put the NOS tubes in when I had a little time.
Long story short, the Z-28 is schweet and reliable and while I could put a NOS EF86 in there, my extras (Sovtec and EH) were so cheap and sound good enough and have proved to be reliable, so why bother? Its not like I'm playing huge rooms with huge audiences or audiophiles... but I still get my tone compliments! I just checked prices of these and they range from 17 bucks up to almost 30. Glad I landed some when I did.
The EH/Sovtec EF86 are pretty good. Yes I have had one or two fail before. They went microphonic in the bahn without road vibrations or anything. I'd pick a couple up and try them.

the ef86 in my m12 sounded great, but failed rather quickly. i called doc and he recommended the dario mini watt. that was about 6-8 months ago and i have had no trouble. sounds and feels terrific.
