Hi!! I have a question that intrigues me on my zwreck components. Yesterday i looked at the chassis of my zwreck and that of another posted on the internet and I noticed that four components were not the same on my amp. Look the white four components on my zwreck and this other picture the component are orange.... Is that this affects the sound of my amplifier or not? Thank you for you answer!! Here my zwreck: Here the other zwreck with the orange component:

Different brand or series of capacitors. I've played three different ones. They were very consistently magical, although, none had been taken apart.
I've resisted the impulse to take mine apart.
I didn't want to take the chance that I might let the magic out.
I hope yours still sounds good after you took it apart and that you don't have any pieces left over when it's reassembled.

Those are the coupling caps for the phase inverter and power amp and they look like Malory 150's, what #'s are on them? The others are orange drops. How old is your amp, mine is from jan of 2012 and has orange drops. One of the company's that was making orange drops got bought out and I'm wondering if the doc is switching to 150's in some of his builds because he was having his caps custom made.

The Orange caps were special designed for me by SBE notice the DRZ Amps stamp on them. FYI, SBE purchased the Orange Drop division from Spraque 10 years ago.
Last year SBE informed me that the material used in my cap was no longer available and asked that I switch to the 716 type ( Polyproperlyne ) . I tried them I did'nt care for there responce. Guy's this is what happens when your in business for 25 years, I have lost quite a few suppliers through the years. I approached some small cap manufactures for a specially rolled cap, got flustrated when time after time the caps fell short in tone in my circuits.
Then I sampled the Mallory 150 type caps, and was very happy with there tone, especially in EL 84 based amps. I have been using the 150-M's in all Z's , that is if I can get the values needed per circuit.
FYI if some of you are hip to ZoSo Caps from reading about them in other forums, Zoso's are re-labeled Mallory 150's.

I've used several Mallory 150's in rebuilding some of these old amps I collect..... I totally LOVE these caps. Moreso than the Orange Drop.....Now, I'm wondering what I've got in my Wreck.... Whichever one it's got, it's sounds pretty darn incredible...

Whichever one it's got, it's sounds pretty darn incredible... It's worth noting that not all orange drops sound the same. The 225P and the 6P sound very similar to the old blue molded caps that fender used in the blackface era. The 715/716 are a different material and sound a bit sterile... not bad in the PI or power section though. Dr. Z's orange caps were sort of in between. The mallory's sound a bit grainy to me... which works really well in tweeds, but I didn't really like them in marshall builds and used some NOS mustards I found instead.

^^^^^ Yeah...most of the amps I've re-built are 5F6A's, 5F4's, and 5E3's....I know my way around the tweeds much better than any other amp style...

I've been using M150's and mojo Dijon caps in my builds. In my home brew zwreck I used 6PS love that amp.
Got feed up with cap orders from Sozo and don't use them anymore good thing huh. What about their so called hand rolled caps?
