I just bought a Princeton non reverb and the rectifier that came in it ws a Fender labeled 5U4GB, 5AS4A USA. Also had number written accross te glass 030031 AGF . Can anybody tell me about it. Is it junk solid etc? Says it was made in the USA. Hopefully Myles see's this if nobody else can help out. Cheers!

If it's a USA 5U4 it's a good tube and will likely last a REALLY long time in that amp. I have an original 5U4 that has been in a Fender amp since the early 70s and I got the amp used. Those old USA rectifiers are generally great.

A 5R4GBY is also a good substitute draws 2 amps instead of 3 amps ...don't confuse this with the 5AR4 ( GZ34) ...
