Hey guys, new member here!
I just purchased a used Maz 38 combo (older model) at Guitar Center.
It got shipped to me and I put the existing tubes back in place, etc. Sounds amazing!, except for one issue: If I roll the "cut" knob forward past 8:30-9 o'clock, I get a high-mid pronounced "hiss", even with the reverb zeroed out. I don't mind a little noise, but it's very evident and I'm wondering what may be causing it and what I can do to fix it. Have you heard of this before? I don't really want to ship it off anywhere, was hoping you could point me in the right direction so I could tackle it myself.
Looks like there's a ton of great knowledge to be had here, I have a lot of reading to do. Thanks!

welcome .....(hoff from the other site)......I had a new Sr. a couple of years ago...and I dont remember it having a lot of hiss , a Maz Jr new from 2001 did...I recently got a 2012 jr, and it doesn't have much hiss, unless things are really maxed out....but still tubes may be the culprit.....even when I had the Sr. I had tried some different preamp tubes, and there was definitely some, that made the amp a bit on the noisy side.........
perhaps at no cost, at first just double check to make sure, the proper pre amp tubes are in the correct spot....Dr Z, seems to spec a certain tube/manufacturer for each spot, based on reliabilty and performance, from what I have learned

Welcome, and yes, my first thought would be tubes, try substituting preamp tubes in turn with one you know is good.

Welcome and congrats on the amp. As was mentioned, different preamp tubes go in different spots. Here are the tubes Dr Z currently uses on new production amps www.drzamps.com/tube_info.html

+1 on what doctorice said--he always has a wealth of info--I always try to stick with what the good doctors suggests but by no means do you have to-alot of fun to try different tubes but I tend to stick with the tried and true.
