Gentlemen (and Ladies) of the Realm;
This is gonna be long... but I must confess all, so bear with me..
It has been a great while since my last post here...been kinda busy. But I think it important to lay down a couple of tracks on the venerable and unmatched Maz 38 and real-world experiences.
I bought my rig around 2005...and it's been the cornerstone of every gig since then. All over Broadway,-Tootsie's, 2nd Fiddle, Wild Horse, Hard Rock, Legend's, Rippy's - in Nashville (we even survived the "great flood"), throughout every Southern state, the Daytona 500, countless "writer's nights" - at Douglas Corner, the Commodore, the French Quarter (rest in peace), the Bluebird, and more I can no longer remember - it's been there. Through the dim lights, thick smoke, and loud, loud music - it's been there.
Now, I'm not any great musician - just adequate and fortunate. But I testify this: Dr Z's Maz 38SR made me BETTER at what I do.
And to the specifics: not ONE minute of down time; not once has the tone failed; and not one other amp has ever bested it (under like conditions).
I'm taking it to the shop this week for some needed cleaning and assorted fixes (the power cable is all but completely disengaged, but still functioning).
So - to you who are looking for that one amp that can provide the headroom you need for clean, chunky, country and rockabilly - I submit the Maz 38. Again, I'm no expert; but I think I've got the experience that few others may have to say -- this is THE finest amp I've ever owned. And this is the ONLY amp I will never part with.
And if you're on the fence - try it yourself. You just may end up the same as I - the only amp you'll never be without.
postscript: I ain't compensated for saying any of this. I am but offering an OBJECTIVE analysis. If I wasn't completely enamored with this equipment, I would never post such a review.
My compliments to the Doc, and to Wolfgang, who signed off on my particular copy! Thank you all for helping me make money, and some great memories along the way!
